Taking a responsive and content led approach to a complex business

BACKGROUND

Designing a careers site for a business whose opportunities span Oil & Gas, Power, Water, Healthcare, Finance, Transport and Appliance industries was never going to be easy. Couple that with the fact GE Africa is experiencing overwhelming growth and yet faces a massive skills deficit in the region. GE Africa needed to target local candidates but also engage African nationals working abroad and entice them to bring their skills and experience back to the continent.

EXECUTION

After embarking on a journey to establish an Employer Value Proposition (EVP) including focus groups and leadership interviews, “Destination Africa. Global Scale. Local Impact. Sustainable Results” was conceptualized. This EVP gave us natural content buckets to deliver a rich experience to visitors and related stakeholders.

In conjunction with our amazing digital partner POWERSHiFTER, the comprehensive redesign of the site reflects GE Africa’s rapid growth in the region. Most importantly, it showcases the variety of programs and leadership paths on offer, diversity of Africans who make their organization tick and innovations that inspire the continent.

Interactive features include; great responsive design on a variety of Desktop, Tablet and Mobile platforms, looping video reel, Wordpress news feed integration and dynamic carousel to display key facts.

IMPACT

User feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, GE Africa have experienced a rise in candidate traffic and swifter pathing of users to their job opportunities.

EMPLOYEE STORYSELLING

EMPLOYEE STORYSELLING

The key to successful business communications is a well-developed story, a narrative that engages, informs and elucidates the core values and objectives of a company.

Storytelling is the most efficient, and effective, way to convey your central message so that a consumer, candidate, or employee can visualize and relate the ideas and values that your company represents.

As employees, we are sometimes thrust into being our company’s content curators, brand ambassadors, and frankly, during times of crisis’, pseudo PR folk, trying to restore a battered reputation.

Similar to sales and customer service, recruiters play an integral role in a company’s storyline. They often need to develop succinct introductions and a ”script” on the value proposition of working at their respective company. Every interaction needs to be tailor-made, in order to better educate a candidate, and address their particular area of expertise.

Whether it is an online video, or simply a conversation over coffee, storytelling creates stronger brand relationships; candidates can experience the brand and its value in a very personal, intimate way.

Ultimately, employees are the makers of these sacred company narratives and can demystify some of the negative stories that might exist. So why not let them sell your company’s story and amplify your employer brand; so that ‘once upon a time’ becomes ‘forever and always’.

Learning Management System (LMS) Promo

This summer we’ve produced a video (in 5 languages) to promote the launch of an internal learning & development portal at Kinross Gold.

Through motion graphics we’ve taken something somewhat one dimensional and garnered more engagement through clever use of music, beat and animation.

To learn more about how we could assist in promoting your company’s internal services or perhaps produce a cost effective motion graphics clip visit: www.contentandbrand.com

In mid May 2013 Director Jeremy Gans & myself were filming elements of Global CSR and Generation Gold Graduate Recruitment video for Kinross Gold Corporation.

We were lucky enough to see first hand water treatment around the United Espalha Creek Águas que Unem / Rico Creek area. Kinross Biologists and Environmental Engineers are working to ensure correct creek flow, building dikes, stabilizing land through tree planting and more. Ensuring both farming land and mining can go hand in hand. Watch out for more photos from this beautiful part of the world.
